Labour has run out of ideas - letter to the mail

What is the Hartlepool Labour Party doing about the unemployment in the town? Hartlepool remains at the top, nationwide, for the proportion of people claiming jobless benefits according to the latest Department of Work and Pensions data. In Hartlepool there were 4,125 people claiming jobless benefits in December, which accounts for 7.2% of the working age population. What is particularly worrying is while the country, the North East, and even Teesside are doing well, Hartlepool isn't. What happens to our unemployment figures when the economy really turns for the worst?

And Labour's answer to our significant unemployment problem? Whatever it is, (because it's not clear to me), it's not working and will continue not to work. Since 2015, each successive year has added to our jobless benefits numbers. Hartlepool needs a change from the tired old Labour ways of tackling our long standing problems, and we certainly need to be attracting big firms paying high wages. But Labour isn't doing this. Again, Labour is taking our vote for granted.

Interestingly, Hartlepool is followed in the unemployment league table by North Ayrshire with 5.6%, Birmingham at 5.5% and South Tyneside with 5.4%. And guess what all these Councils have in common - they are all Labour controlled. Labour have clearly run out of ideas.

So in the May elections, think about voting for change, about voting for a candidate that will make a real difference to you, your family, and our great town. Run out of ideas article
